Skoolie project underway- The hard work is done!Add to Favourites
1998 Thomas Vista school bus. International 3600; T444e diesel motor (essentially same as 7.3 ford); Allison transmission; Air conditioner; Cruise Control; Factory tinted windows. 212K miles Good running condition but will need a set of tires. New glow-plug relay.
Purchased in 1998 from Mesa, Arizona schools- no rust
Work completed- New exterior paint. Interior stripped of metal panels, original flooring and insulation. 2” spray foam insulation in roof, 2” rigid foam in walls. 1” rigid foam on floor with new ½” plywood over. Engine noise reduction measures and custom wood engine cover; New seals and lenses on running lights and warning lights; side windows removed and resealed. Rebuilt entry door- hinged one side with locking handle. Relocated rear A/C unit to passenger side for better air flow; Pine T&G ceiling; Maxxair Fan; cable installed through roof for solar.
Our travel plans have changed and just trying to recoup costs of bus and materials. Stripping the interior, painting and insulation is 80% of the work (the hard part). Now it’s to the fun part of creating your own space!
22’ overall length. Fits in parking space-almost. 15’ x 7’-6” behind driver’s seat. 6’-4” headroom. Easy to drive. Will run 65 but prefers 58-60mph. Excellent turning radius.
